Corine Wofford’s Service in Leadership Advocacy
  • City of San Antonio Facilitator Recognition from Mayor Julian Castro and the Mayor’s Fitness Council. Corine helped transform San Antonio into a healthier and more active community through her work facilitating the Active Living Council, a cross section of community leaders who were chosen to serve for a year to address the obesity issue in San Antonio, Texas. Corine facilitated the council as they developed and implemented a 3-5 year master plan and presented two policy recommendations to reduce sedentary behaviors and increase physical activity in Bexar County. Corine helped the council achieve outstanding results: they adopted a plan that included creative ways to address active living, and policy recommendations were put in place that require contractors to consider active living requirements in their developmental plans throughout the city. The result: San Antonio is no longer the most obese city in the country.
  • Golden Rule Recognition for Outstanding Community Contribution for Developing ArtSmart from JC Penny and President Bill Clinton. Corine created and served as a member of Team Artsmart, an arts and leadership program for youth — the only program in the country that educates elementary students about the visual arts by integrating leadership development and hands-on experience with art disciplines. In this fun, arts-rich, creative learning environment, Certified Team ArtSmart Volunteers help elementary school students learn about the great master artists, practice their art styles, and work as a team using visual art, drama, music, and dance — all while learning to become great leaders!
  • National Association of Women Business Owners Board Member Recognition. As a board member of the National Association of Women Business Owners, San Antonio (NAWBO-SA), Corine helped co-develop and Chair An income of Her Own, an entrepreneur training program for inner city teen women, now called Entrepreneurial Connections. Each year, 120 inner city teen women and 50 women business owners come together for a 9-month program to receive mentorship, learn about financial literacy and pursue the entrepreneurial dream. Mentors teach the teens how to write a business plan, build a team, and learn from other entrepreneurs. The teens are encouraged to enter the business plan competition for an opportunity to earn college scholarships. Over the 10 years since Corine helped develop the program, NAWBO-SA has awarded over $200,000 in college scholarships and award grants, positively impacting over 2000 students, mentors, and administrators in the community.
  • YMCA Advisory Board Member Recognition for helping to raise 2.1 million dollars for family scholarships at the Greater San Antonio YMCA. Corine has served as the Board Development Chair Person for the Thousand Oaks Branch for San Antonio YMCA from 2013 – present. In this position, Corine has contributed to the award-winning fast-growth facility and their community service offerings. Corine and her Board’s branch have been awarded the coveted Y Partner’s Award in both 2013 and 2014 for raising the highest percentage over of the fundraising goal out of 12 other YMCA’s in the San Antonio area. Corine and the Thousand Oaks Branch Board awarded over 200,000 in scholarships to kids and families in their community. In 2014, Corine was proud to be a part of the Greater San Antonio YMCA as they raised and awarded $2.1 million dollars in scholarships to help kids and families lead happy, healthy, and fit lifestyles.
  • Creator of Sales and Marketing Business Leader’s Clubs and Business Leader Club Chairperson. Corine chaired a CEO Business Leaders Club for over 3 years, and then created the Sales and Marketing Business Leadership Club. As Business Leaders Clubs Chairperson, she was able to grow the number of clubs by over 100%. The clubs are now called Business Leaders Circles, sponsored by the North San Antonio Chamber of Commerce.
  • Leadership Lab Scholarship Recipient from the North San Antonio Chamber of Commerce for Outstanding Community Contribution. Corine developed training programs to serve the business community and raise money for the Leadership Lab Alumni Association.  Leadership Lab is an award-winning year-long leadership development and career preparation program for San Antonio’s rising business leaders from the corporate, non-profit, and small business sectors. This training program uses innovative thinking, research, and best practices in leadership development, with a focus on professional performance, leadership, management, community service and self-awareness Corine has been a sales and marketing faculty member for the Leadership Lab, educating and inspiring attendees with high-engagement interactive activities that help them apply the strategies to their business roles. She recently served as the Leadership Development Chairperson for the Leadership Lab Alumni.
  • Mastermind Leader for Women’s Global Connection. Women’s Global Connection promotes women’s leadership and learning locally and globally through collaborative networks and partnerships. Corine helped raise $100,000 for the organization in order to provide scholarships for women around the world attending the first Women’s Global Connection conference in San Antonio, Texas. Corine participated in business mentoring sessions with attendees introduced speakers, and acted as an ambassador for the city by escorting attendees to San Antonio’s famous Riverwalk and a WNBA game.
  • Creator of Reading Incentive Program for Middle School. Corine started a middle school reading incentive program and secured funding to grant awards to students who read a certain volume of books that tie to their English Curriculum. This resulted in over 10,000 students increasing their reading skills and TAAS Scores, which contributed to Bradley Middle School receiving the Texas Seal of Excellence and Schools to Watch designation in Texas.
  • Creator of Program for the Arts in the Public School System. Corine developed a program for the arts in the public school system in San Antonio, Texas as well as a college scholarship program for high school students pursuing the arts. Corine’s art and leadership programs have raised over $50,000 to help educate, inspire, and provide scholarship for youth in her hometown of San Antonio, Texas.
  • Facilitator of the Training Program for U.S. Olympic Festival Volunteers. Corine volunteered to facilitate a training program that educated over 500 volunteers in preparation for the U.S Olympic Festival in San Antonio, Texas.
